Singer Billie Eilish has debuted her new back tattoo in a post on social media, and fans are obsessed. However, this new design isn’t the first time that she has had her body inked.

Billie Eilish, who recently released her single What Was I Made For? from the soundtrack to the blockbuster Barbie, has always used her outward appearance for self-expression along with her lyrics and music. She had black hair with green highlights for quite some time before revealing in 2021 that it wasn’t actually her hair.

Taking to her Instagram, the 21-year-old posted a series of random snaps, which included some Drake lyrics.

She shared that she had gotten the red and black art down her back after initially showing off the top of it at the nape of her neck a few weeks prior.

The meaning of the tat isn’t clear, and she didn’t elaborate in the caption either, though she did add a scissor emoji.

People rushed to the comments to let the star know how much they loved the new ink.

One fan penned: “TATTOO REVEAL OMFG.”

Another said: “theee back tattooooo?”

A third wrote: “THE BACK TATT.”

She keeps meanings of her ink close to her chest – literally

Billie, who recently admitted she doesn’t cope with fame well, has previously shared her three other tattoos with fans. Although, she seems to have been reluctant to tell the world just what they mean.

She told Rolling Stone the day after she and her songwriting partner and brother, Finneas, swept awards at the 2020 Grammys (January 27) she got her surname tattooed on her chest. Billie described it as an “ornate, gothic font, in the middle of her chest,” and later pointed to its placement in an interview with Vanity Fair and explained it by saying: “Yes, I love myself.”

Despite Billie saying that she would never reveal it publically, she eventually did in a post on her Instagram three years after getting it, back in June.

That same year, she got a “big boy” design that spans her rib cage and down her leg. It was inspired by the car that she got for her 17th birthday, a matte-black Dodge Challenger.

Her third tat is a fantastical drawing of three fairies on her left hand, which was first seen at the premiere of the James Bond movie No Time to Die in 2021. She said that it had quite a lot of meaning to her, as it was a throwback to her childhood.

She called them “sweet little guardian angel fairies” and said they were based on her favorite book, Fairyopolis by Cicely Mary Barker.
